Bridging the Gap

Getting Involved in Wheelchair Sports

Bridging-the-GapBridging the Gap is a National outreach and awareness program specifically designed to help individuals with and without physical disabilities become aware of the wheelchair sport and recreation options available in their communities. We want to encourage people with disabilities to get active and stay active!

Bridging the Gap believes that every Canadian deserves access to physical activity, whether they want to play recreationally or have Paralympic aspirations. From ‘Have a Go Days’ to wheelchair loans, we’ll do whatever it takes to reduce barriers and help people with physical disabilities discover their new favourite wheelchair sport!

Bridging the Gap is a National Program supported by the Canadian Wheelchair Sports Association, Tennis Canada and Wheelchair Basketball Canada, and currently promotes and supports wheelchair rugby, wheelchair tennis, and wheelchair basketball. If you are interested in another sport not currently offered by the Bridging the Gap program please contact us to let us know and we’ll help you get connected to the appropriate person, program, or organization.
